How do I know if I need therapy for posttraumatic stress?
- You have recurrent nightmares about the event or memory or frequently think about the event or memory when you do not want to.
- You go out of your way to avoid situations that remind you of the event or memory.
- You are constantly on guard, watchful, or easily startled.
- You feel numb or detached from others, activities, or your surroundings.
If you answered yes to most of these questions then you are likely exhibiting symptoms of trauma. |

"I went to therapy when I got back, but I still had a lot of anger. It wasn't helping the problem. I was referred to Veterans Resource by a friend, and I really didn't think it was going to help, but I was willing to try anything. The EMDR helped resolve my anger, and I just don't feel like that anymore. I wish I'd started sooner. F...yeah, I would have."
